Investment in Research

Teer Coatings Ltd have a policy of investing heavily in Research and Development. This commitment and investment is a continuing feature and the company now has one of the best equipped and staffed coatings research laboratories in the world. Within the R&D department thirteen people of degree or PhD level are employed along with high quality technical support staff. Ten PVD coating systems are totally dedicated to R&D, with comprehensive test and analytical back up.

Proven Success

The R&D activities have been very fruitful, resulting in the development of the PLASMAG range of magnetrons, the UDP coating systems and the patented Closed Field system. Many new and successful coatings have been developed including the first DLC coating with good adhesion, the unique hard, wear resistant solid lubricant coatings MoST and Graphit-iC, and our new DLC coating Dymon-iC.

Centre of Excellence

Teer Coatings Ltd is recognised as a centre of excellence for coatings research and every year attracts students from various parts of the world for education and training. Formal co-operation has been established through CASE studentships, LINK schemes and BRITE EURAM projects with many universities and research institutes. We are currently supporting external PhD projects at Nottingham, Oxford, Aston and Wolverhampton Universities, along with two internal PhD students in conjunction with Nottingham and Salford Universities.
