Chromium Aluminium Titanium Nitride (CrAlTiN) is a tough multilayer coating suitable for applications where high chemical wear resistance is required. CrAlTiN has exceptional high temperature properties, the coating offers improvements in many applications, including dry machining of a wide range of alloy steels.

Typical Properties

• 2-4 µm thick
• friction coefficient 0.3 depending on application and test conditions
• hardness (HV 0.05) 2700 depending on application and test conditions
• maximum working temperature 1050°C
• deposition temperature 400°C
• grey colour

Applications

• uses similar to TiAlN but where greater toughness and resistance to chemical wear are needed
• high speed milling
• difficult to machine applications
• high temperature operations
• coining dies
